Touch Monitors

Currently used with Lab Manager Version 5 and Lab Manager Professional.

With a touch monitor, you don't need it anymore.

With a touch monitor, just touching a picture of a button on the screen makes the computer act as if you clicked on the button with a mouse.

How does it do it? A touch monitor looks like an ordinary monitor but it has a touch sensitive material applied to the glass portion of the screen. When the monitor is touched with a finger, special circuitry inside the monitor calculates the exact position where your finger touched the screen. It passes that information to a special driver in the computer which converts the information into equivalent mouse actions.

Touch Monitors versus Bar Coding
Touch monitors require less training. Simply set up a computer with a touch monitor, install Lab Manager, and you are ready to go. Information is updated immediately versus waiting to download information from a bar code reader/charger. Touch monitors don't have to be charged nightly, bar code units do.

Touch Monitors reduce equipment loss
Employees can easily misplace a portable bar code unit. They fit in a pocket and can be accidentally carried off the premises easily. It is a lot harder to misplace a touch monitor... they don't fit in a pocket very well.
